Professor Zheng-Ming Sheng's group, together with Indian scientists, have provided the first conclusive evidence for the existence of turbulence in extremely high magnetic fields, a phenomenon that was predicted years ago but had not been observed till now. Their research, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, may contribute to efforts to tame nuclear fusion as well as help scientists mimic the interiors of stars in a laboratory.
